Link Building Quality Guidelines:-
Link Building is one of the most important elements in achieving rankings in the search engines. Links from other web sites are a major way people find new web sites. Apart from the traffic links can deliver, there is another very compelling reason for link building. Rankings in search engines are strongly influenced by the number of quality links pointing to a site. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN are increasingly giving greater weight in their search results to sites that are "popular" – i.e sites with numerous links to them from other sites.
Simplistically stated; the more links there are to a site with the proper anchor text variations, the higher it ranks. Google pioneered the concept of link popularity in its algorithm. Page Rank (PR) is Google's method of measuring a page's "importance" and influenced strongly by number and quality of inbound links. Essentially when all other ranking factors are taken into account, Google uses PageRank to adjust results so sites that are more "important" move up in the results page of a user's search. Accordingly, Google looks at which pages link to each other to determine this importance. Also (and often forgotten) is that high quality links can deliver substantial traffic in their own right to web sites.
Links are in effect like word-of-mouth recommendations. When given by a credible or authoritative source; they can carry real weight - for both search engines and people. To use an analogy, say you suffer from hypertension & a friend recommends you start taking Aspirin daily because it reduces blood pressure. Chances are you'll give this recommendation far less weight than if it came from your doctor. The same with search engines - a link from a medical site to a site about hypertension will carry far more weight than one from a non-medical website.
Listed below are some of the important Quality Guidelines, which we should consider for acquiring links from other websites. These would ensure that your link building campaign gives you the maximum possible benefit.
- Only Incoming (non-reciprocal) links.
- Links with specified "Keywords" in the Anchor Text.
- Sufficient randomization in the anchor text and associated link description text so as to not have a set pattern of linking.
- Links from sites that have PR specified links page.
- Link to your site should not be through a "redirect" script.
- No JavaScript links.
- No framed sites.
- No flash site links.
- No robots.txt exclusions.
- Exclusion in Robots Tag.
- No paid links.
- Links from Pre-indexed Pages only.
- Spread your site link across different domains.
- No SPAM should be used to solicit links.
- No links from Link Farms.
- No FFA networks.
- Don't get links from Blogs and that have the Link Attribute, "rel=nofollow".
- No links from PORN, racially prejudiced sites and other sites containing offensive content.
- Full data sheet of links created at the end of each month.
- Only relevant established links should be counted in the final report.
- The links creation should be spread across duration of time, so that there is no sudden surge in the incoming links count.
